Insular Schools Assessment
of Buildings and Classrooms
Client: Office of Insular Affairs (via HHF)
Location: Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Virgin Islands
Completion Date: 2015
In a partnership between the insular areas (Guam, Commonwealth of Northern Marianas, American Samoa, and US Virgin Islands) and the Department of the Interior Office of Insular Affairs (OIA), a baseline inventory and deferred maintenance assessment was completed for all 115 public elementary, middle and high school buildings and facilities in the four insular areas. ATA conducted school inspections and interviewed school officials to evaluate the drainage, wastewater and water utilities as well as the grading, pavement, sidewalk and other site improvements.
As part of the assessments, ATA provided recommendations and approximate costs to improve the facilities to assist the school districts with their repair and redevelopment plans.
